Voice Biometrics In Course

What is voice biometrics?

In some courses, regulatory requirements dictate how we confirm your identity. One of these ways is voice biometrics, which captures 3 voice samples and then asks you to confirm that information at various points throughout the course to authenticate you.

This means providing a quick voice sample through your device’s microphone. A headset is not required.

Tip: To avoid missing a checkpoint, log out any time you are not actively in the course. If an authentication request appears, complete it before leaving the screen.

How do I complete Voice Biometrics?

Your course will direct you to set up your Voice Biometrics by reading off a phrase into your device’s microphone three times. After providing three samples, your voice will be recorded. Within the course, you will be prompted to speak into your device’s microphone at random intervals. This is very important because if you fail a voice biometrics sample while taking the course, you may have to re-register for the course.

Before beginning, be sure you can locate your device’s microphone and that it is enabled. Setting up your microphone will vary depending on what type of device you are using.

  • For Windows, click here

  • For Mac, click here

  • For iPhone, click here

  • For Android, click here

Microphone settings also need to be enabled in your browser.

  • For Chrome, click here

  • For Safari, click here

  • For Edge, click here

After making sure your microphone is enabled:

  1. Click the green “Start Recording” button.

  2. Say the phrase, “My voice is stronger than passwords.”

  3. Click the red “Stop Recording” button.

  4. Click the blue “Submit” button.

  5. You will complete this task a total of three times.

Keep these tips in mind:

  1. Avoid environments with background noise or echo.

  2. Use a headset microphone if possible.

  3. Recite the phrases slowly and clearly.

  4. When prompted with a voice biometrics request, do not log out of the course or refresh your browser.

What if my computer doesn’t have a microphone?

If your computer doesn’t have a microphone, you can use our QR code-based system to submit your voice sample from another device, such as your phone. Here's how it works:

  1. When it's time to verify your identity, a unique QR code will appear on your screen.

  1. Simply scan the QR code using your smartphone camera (just like you would for a restaurant menu or payment).

  2. The QR code will instantly open a secure page on your phone, where you can record your voice using the phone’s built-in microphone — no need for any extra devices, apps, or headsets.

  3. You will be guided to say a short phrase, and with one tap, the recording is securely submitted for verification.
